Whether you decide to look up or not, Adam McKay’s apocalyptic dark comedy Don’t Look Up has nabbed four Oscar nominations.
McKay’s controversial comedy centered around the “anti-science” wave plaguing America, and the world, as it explored the potentially disastrous situation of a planet-killing asteroid hurtling its way towards Earth. With Meryl Streep playing an eerily Trump-like US President, and Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as our scientific team ready to do what it takes to save the planet, the cast was stacked with impressive names.
Its nominations include:
- Best Picture
- Best Original Screenplay
- Best Film Editing
- Best Original Score
McKay is no stranger to the Oscars, being nominated in multiple categories in 2019 for Vice and 2016 for The Big Short, winning Best Adapted Screenplay in 2016.
Don’t Look Up is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
