NEW DELHI: The federal government on Tuesday introduced a curb on export of sugar past 100 lakh tonnes (MTs) throughout this sugar season ending September. The federal government stated this has been carried out contemplating the excessive enhance in exports of the sweetener up to now few months.

Contracts for export of about 90 lakh tonnes have been signed within the present sugar season 2021-22 and about 82 lakh tonnes sugar has been dispatched from sugar mills for export.
